Anti-encroachment drive in Garha

In a major exercise, the Anti-Encroachment Department of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC), on Monday removed hundreds of iron sheds, which got erected in front of shops and also removed kiosks and other temporary structures situated along the main road from Garha Bazaria to Tripuri Chowk. Cracking whip on encroachers, the anti-encroachment squad conducted drive on the busy road and removed illegal structures, which were hindering traffic movement. Senior officials informed that following Municipal Commissioner’s direction, the central squad of Anti-Encroachment Department is tirelessly conducting drives and removing temporary as well as permanent structures, which are obstructing traffic movement.

Accordingly, the squad, on Monday conducted drive on the main route from Garha Bazaria to Tripuri Chowk and removed hundreds of iron sheds, kiosks, handcarts and also razed some permanent structures, which were creating traffic jam like situation on the busy route. Officials said the anti-encroachment squad would continue the drive and remove encroachments. They said, people had encroached the main road upto 15 feet by erecting heavy iron sheds. The encroachments were hindering road widening work. Hence, the department conducted the drive and removed illegal structures.

Officials said the Anti-Encroachment Department is constantly taking action against shopkeepers, who place shops along main roads, erect sheds and also deck up commodities outside their shops and create inconvenience to pedestrians and vehicle riders. It may be noted that teams of Anti-Encroachment Department are carrying out drive in different parts of the city concurrently to remove encroachments. The senior officials and employees have been taking action against people who have encroached Government land and roads.

Meanwhile, concerned officials have been asked to shun negligence in carrying out the drive and taking strict against encroachers. The officials have also been asked to seize temporary shops like kiosks, handcarts, make shift shops and commodities if found placed along main roads. The officials have also been asked to prepare challan of erring shopkeepers who are hindering traffic movement.
