Citizens made aware about obeying traffic rules

Against backdrop of 42nd Annual Congress of Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI), an awareness programme was undertaken in association with Traffic Control Branch of Nagpur City Police on Monday. With accidents on rise and leading to fatalities or serious head injuries, the two and four wheelers users were made aware about obeying the traffic rules. The programme was held at Law College Square between 11 am to 1 pm.

For two wheeler riders it was impressed upon to wear the helmets. Those who were wearing helmets were welcomed by presenting roses. While those driving four wheelers were impressed upon need to wear seat belts. The programme was to create awareness regarding importance of observing traffic rules and strapping on the helmet and seat belts in view of personal safety. The Doctors team presented flowers to the commuters in order to motivate and inculcate the habit of wearing helmets for safety.

Prominently present, were the organisers the Organising Chairman, Dr Ramakrishna Shenoi, Organising Secretary, Dr Abhay Datarkar, Dr Anup Garg, Dr Neeraj Khare, Dr Nilima Budharaja, Dr Pranao Ingole, Dr Rahul Dahake and Dr Sandeep Khandaitkar were present. Also present were students’ Welfare Association members of VSPM's Dental College and Students Council members of Government Dental College. Senior Police Inspector Jayesh Bhandarkar of Traffic City Police along with his team joined the initiative. Dr Shenoi and Dr Datarkar briefed about the importance of the road safety and provided the statistics which has proved that observing traffic rules reduces the incidences of injuries and fatalities.
