Staff Reporter,

Maharashtra Government has suspended Dr Ganesh Mukkawar from the post of Dean of Government Ayurved College on the charges that he had given admission to one student without intimating Common Entrance Test Cell (CET). Meanwhile Dr Mukkawar has refuted charges and said the action was unjustified and unwarranted.

Every year the last date for the admissions to medical courses is September 30. Last year due to some litigations in court the date got extended by a month. In Government set up while filling the seats certain norms are to be followed. Almost all the seats are filled of BAMS course except one in Government Ayurved College. This one seat is filled from the Government of India quota. Dean waited for the seat till November 28. Government of India told college that it was not sending the candidate so Dean could fill the seat. Accordingly Dr Mukkawar gave admission to one girl named Anupama Shelke, a daughter of farmer of Jalna.

Meanwhile when State Government came to know about the admission, it questioned and asked Dr Mukkawar how he did admit the student without seeking permission. Dr Mukkawar cancelled the admission. The girl approached court to seek the justice.During the hearing in court, Dr Mukkawar submitted the relevant documents and brought to the notice of court that the admission was done in accordance with the rules. After verifying the documents, Court declared that the admission was valid. The girl was again given admission on July 2017.The matter did not stop here. The Government initiated the enquiry on this admission and finally suspended Dr Mukkawar. According to Dr Mukkawar, he did everything within the frame of law, rules and regulations. He called the action as unjustified.

When The Hitavada talked to Chandrashekhar Oak, the then Chief of CET Cell, he said, “Government had never permitted Dr Mukkawar to do the admission. He first completed the procedure of admission and then informed us which was wrong. Before giving admission to student he should have informed us.”Meanwhile, though The Hitavada did not get any confirmation but father of the girl died due to cardiac arrest. According to family members he went into shock when this issue got errupted again.
