754 BSP employees get Nehru Awards

As many as 754 employees of Bhilai Steel Plant were felicitated with the Nehru Awards-2017 at a glittering function, held at Nehru House of Culture, Bhilai on November 14, 2017. Fifty one executives received the individual Jawahar Award while 97 non-executive employees received the individual Nehru Award. A total of 606 employees in 76 groups received the Jawaharlal Nehru Awards. The Nehru awards are the highest recognition that the SAIL management confers upon its employees as reward for their exemplary contribution, sincerity and dedication.


The awards were given away by M Ravi, Chief Executive Officer, Bhilai Steel Plant, M K Barman, ED(Personnel & Administration), AK Mathur, ED (Projects), Rita Bannerjee, ED (MM), Dr. KN Thakur, Director I/c (M&HS), BP Nayak, ED (F&A), B Saha, Actg. ED(Works) and D Bhargava, GM I/c (Mines & Rowghat).


At the outset, M Ravi felicitated J Umre, GM (Mech) with the CEO’s special award for Outstanding GM for his exceptional leadership in the timely capital repair of Blast Furnace-7.
Congratulating the awardees, Ravi lauded the collective for its systematic approach, dedication, discipline and team spirit. “It is because you are there that we were able to surmount the challenges before Bhilai Steel Plant”, he said. “I feel proud to say that we will prevail over all challenges that will come before us”, added M.Ravi.


“When I came back as CEO, I came with the desire to serve my Plant. I am indebted to my seniors, colleagues and all workers, who came out in my support with words of encouragement and valuable suggestions. Change in mindset was crucial as was shown by the collective in the mines, works, projects and elsewhere.


The reality of Rowghat is only because of the Bhilai team”, pointed M.Ravi. Making a special mention of the young employees, he said that we have to nurture and take care of them. Making a clarion call, he said that let us multiply our results next year. It is our responsibility to lead SAIL to greater heights with dedication and discipline. Let there be no scope for complacency or for any break, for onward we must march to take the Plant to greater heights. He complimented the family members of the awardees for being such strong pillars of support.


At the outset RN Panda, GM (Personnel) welcomed the awardees and guests. Master of Ceremonies Sushma Saxena AGM (Pers) conducted the proceedings. Ranjana Pandey, Manager (Pers) and Usha Saji, AM (Pers) read out the citations. Vikas Chandra, Sr Manager (Pers-Rules) proposed the vote of thanks while concluding the unique event.
