Rice cooked two-day ago while gravy kept in fridge since three days, Hotel Emerald on Ring Road near Kushalpur Chowk was literally serving stale food to the customers when Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) mounted surprise inspection of hotel’s kitchen on Monday.

As the RMC Health Department, Revenue and Town Planning team conducted inspection, officials were taken aback by the level of unhygienic conditions in their kitchen. They discovered that hotel was still serving food items cooked over three days ago. Hotel owner was slapped a fine of Rs 5000 by the officials.

RMC also took a written of agreement from hotel owner for allowing the toilet in his premises to be used by general public under Toilet My Rights campaign. All the government and non-government organisations and institutes are being asked to cooperate in the Toilet My Rights campaign and put up a signboard of toilet outside their premises.
