Minister Chitnis launches Mission Palna on Children’s Day

Minister for Woman and Child Development, Archana Chitnis said that the State Government has decided to launch ‘Mission Palna’ for ensuring care to newborn babies, considering the incidences of their abandonment.

Under the mission, cradles will be set up in all children homes, hospitals and social organisations in all districts of the state from November 14, Children’s Day to January 14, 2018, the day of Makar Sankranti. Parents giving birth to undesired child should not throw it in bushes and at garbage place instead put them in the cradle so that their life is not in danger and the government can provide them good life by carrying out adoption process for care.

Chitnis also announced awards for child protection organisations, institutions for encouraging them for completing adoption process speedily. The best three institutions will be given Rs 5 lakh, Rs 2.50 lakh and Rs 1.50 lakh for facilitating the highest number of adoption till March 2018. Total 1738 children are residing in different institutions in the state and around 3,000 families are awaited under process for adoption. Chitnis said that model cradle is being availed in all districts by the department. District collectors have been instructed to get set up the cradle through CSR. A proper arrangement should be made to protect the cradle from the sun, rain and weather. There will be system of alert with the cradle so that the institutions will be taking care of the child.
