Three-year-old victim of road mishap undergoes third successful surgery

Three-year-old boy who met with an accident over a month ago underwent third surgery at Dr B R Ambedkar Hospital on Tuesday. Father of the boy who works as a Mason sold his house to pay the medical bills at a private hospital where he was twice operated.


With tears rolling down his face poor father of two children Kulpat Ram Nat told The Hitavada that to save the life of his three year old younger son, Vipul he had to sell his house and all valuables that he had. Since two months he could not go for work to earn bread and butter for the family. He was working as a mason at Moti Nagar and lived with his two small sons and wife.


On the fateful day of October 8 his wife went to his native place, Paraswara village in Mungeli to collect rice along with his younger son Vipul. While returning to Raipur Vipul met with an accident.


A carelessly driven car with registration number MP04CJ8939 hit the boy and run over his right leg leading to multiple fractures. Rajesh Upadhyay another labourer of same village saw the registration number of the car and memorized it.
The child was rushed to local hospital and later shifted to Mahadeva Hospital, Bilaspur. An FIR was lodged with Mungeli police station on the basis of registration number of car. Doctors operated the child and implanted a steel rod to support the broken bone of his leg. Later due to some complication doctors performed second operation for which a medical bill amounting to Rs 3 lakh was raised.


Kulpat sold his house in the village to pay for the medical bill and for further treatment the boy was referred to BRAMH.
On November 9 the boy was admitted at ward number 13 of BRAMH. Team of doctors headed by Dr SN Phuljhale, Orthopaedic surgeon is taking care of the boy and on Tuesday third operation was successfully performed on the boy.
