Centre okays several infra projects in Mah

MANMAD-Indore broad gauge rail route, dry ports at Nashik and Sangli, multi-modal hub at Nagpur, Ro-Ro service in Mumbai, Ring Road for Pune were among the projects that got a nod from the Centre on Tuesday.
It was also decided to resume work on Wardha-Nanded, Parli-Beed, Nagar-Beed-Parli and Gadchiroli-Wadsa-Desaiganj rail projects.


This was informed during a joint press conference addressed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, here on Tuesday.
Gadkari said, Railway Ministry would take the responsibility for tripling of Karjat-Igantpuri, Igatpuri-Manmad and Kasara-Manmad route.


Presentation on proposed multi-modal hub at Nagpur was also made and decision was taken to start the work immediately. Similar hub has also been proposed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Varanasi constituency.


Gadkari said, Fadnavis advised to build two separate hubs in Nagpur, one for logistics at Khapri and the other for passengers at Ajni. A review of proposed Ro-Ro service for Mumbai was also taken and it was decided to start the service by April 2018.


Decision to build dry ports at Nashik and Sangli was also taken during the meeting. Already, two dry ports at Wardha and Jalna have been approved in the State.
Fadnavis said, creation of dry port at Nashik would help grape growers to export their produce.
Apart from this, Road Transport and Highways Ministry has approved Rs. 1,500 crore to construct a Ring Road in Pune. Four-laning of Aurangabad-Jalgaon highway was also approved.
