Dr Manoj Singh is new as DRM Jabalpur

SPECULATIONS made in recent past on new Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Jabalpur finally ended after Dr Manoj Singh assumed charge of DRM Jabalpur of West Central Railway on Wednesday. Dr Singh, a doctorate in Rail Economics, is an officer of Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) 1989 batch. He has diverse experiences in Railway Operations, Commercial, Planning and Business Development.


According to information, Dr Manoj Singh assumed charge of DRM Jabalpur on Wednesday and replaced Sudhir Kumar, outgoing DRM Jabalpur, who has been transferred as CSTE at Allahabad North Central Railway.


Prior to this, Dr Manoj Singh held position of Adviser (Transport) in Planning Commission and its successor organisation NITI Aayog where he was responsible for policy development in transport sector at national level. During his tenure in the Planning Commission, he initiated 12th Fifth Year Plan for transport for 2012-17 and more recently in NITI Aayog he led creation of action plan on transport for period 2017-19. Dr Singh has also served in Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), where he promoted containerisation and Multi Model Transport solutions in eastern region of the country.


While in CONCOR, he led first International Rail Connectivity Project between India and Nepal by setting up operation of Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Birganj, Nepal. He started his career in Railways with various divisions of South Eastern Railway and his first posting was as an Area Manager, Shahdol, in Bilaspur Division (SER) in 1992. Dr Singh graduated in engineering, post-graduation in Management and PhD in Rail Economics. He has been awarded Commonwealth Scholarship for PhD from University of Leeds, United Kingdom, Chevening Gurukul Scholarship for Leadership and Excellence from London School of Economics and General Manager’s award in South Eastern Railway.
