Anant Geete opens workshop on Tribal Gond painting

Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Sector Enterprises Anant Geete along with Mayor Dr Swati Godbole on Thursday inaugurated four-day workshop on Tribal Gond Painting (Patangadh) at Cultural Street near Bhawartal Garden.
Jabalpur Smart City Limited is organising a workshop to encourage tribal painting and provide appropriate platform to artists.


Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister hailed efforts of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation for preserving culture and heritage. He said the city is going through brisk pace transformation. Geete said Jabalpur is a beautiful city and such programmes add to its beauty. He congratulated Mayor Dr Godbole and Executive Director of JSCL, Vedprakash for promoting tribal culture and giving platform to artists to show their talent. He said ongoing development works will surely make Jabalpur a Smart City. He also called upon citizens to extend support in making the city clean and beautiful.


Expressing her views on the occasion, Mayor Dr Swati Godbole said atmosphere which develops at Cultural Street generally occurs in rural areas especially amongst tribals. On the occasion, welcomed all artists and encouraged them.
Later, Executive Director of JSCL Vedprakash also addressed gathering and apprised them of about four-day workshop in detail. Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Sector Enterprises Anant Geete also unfolded miniature of Madan Mahal Fort on the occasion. An exhibition ‘Ek Kadam Swachhta Ki Aur’ was also organised under Swachh Sarvekshan-2018.


Smart City Limited gave message of cleanliness through the exhibition. Various paintings on significance of water was also displayed at Cultural Street. People were apprised of importance of water in human life and appealed to save water.
Those present on the occasion were Mayor-in-Council member, Kamlesh Agrawal, Corporator, Thaneshwar Mahawar, Deputy Commissioner, Gajendra Singh, Garden Officer, Aditya Shukla, Ravi Rao and others.
