Bisen takes reins as 15th VC of JNAU

DR Pradeep Kumar Bisen assumed office as 15th Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru Agriculture University (JNAU) amidst rousing welcome accorded by University technical staff, scientist, researchers, students, employees, staff and labours, on Thursday. On the occasion, previous Vice-Chancellor Professor Vijay Singh Tomar was given warm farewell.
As per tradition, outgoing Vice-Chancellor Professor Vijay Singh Tomar handed over charge of office of Vice-Chancellor of JNAU to new Vice-Chancellor Professor P K Bisen.


On the occasion, Dean Faculty of Agriculture Dr P K Mishra, Registrar, Ashok Kumar Ingle, Accounts Comptroller, Anil Kesharwani, Director Research Services and Instructions, Dr Dhirendra Khare, Director Farms, Dr Sharad Tiwari, Dean College of Agricultural Engineering, Dr R K Nema, Dean Students’ Welfare, Dr V K Pyasi, Senior Professor Raghuraj Tiwari along with representatives of different social, religious, farmers and political organisations graced the occasion with their presence welcomed the new Vice-Chancellor Dr P K Bisen with garlands, bouquet of flowers.
Earlier, students of JNAU College of Agriculture Jabalpur formed a human chain and showered petals on Dr Bisen right form entrance of the University to the office. Prior to that at Hanuman Temple where in special presence of eminent dignitaries of the University he offered prayers.


Dr P K Bisen was student of JNAU and started his career in 1980 as Assistant Professor and worked in different capacities and keyposts of the University.


On Thursday he assumed office of Head of the University as 15th Vice-Chancellor. On the occasion, outgoing Vice-Chancellor Professor Tomar and new Vice Chancellor Dr Bisen planted a sapling in the university premises. On the occasion Dr Bisen said that “Shifting of new and scientific farming technology to its end user farmers is our prime responsibility. Farmers play a key role in development and growth of State. JNAU has 19 KVKs in 19 districts of State and this network will help in fulfilling the responsibility to educate farmers about new and modern, scientific technology.

He said to fulfill the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to double farmers’ income by 2022 through different farmers beneficiary schemes started in the State for farmers. For successful implementation of farmers welfare schemes work plan of University will be created. Dr Bisen said that amongst top priorities, development of the University as Best University of the country, development of information system enabled with modern technology connecting farmers at all levels with technical know how in shifting of technology, strengthening human resources base by initiating work on appointment of technical and non-technical staff in all departments including research, extension, academics and marketing.
