Around 3,300 cameras have been installed throughout the city

During the ensuing winter session of Maharashtra Legislature, Nagpur Police and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) will keep a close watch on the crowd, VIP convoy, and traffic management at 35 locations with the help of 123 Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras. The winter session of State Legislature will be held in city from December 11 to December 22.

These cameras have been installed under Smart and Safe City of PAN City initiative. Larsen and Tubro (L&T) is installing total 3,800 cameras at different locations. Around 3,300 cameras have been installed throughout the city and police have selected 123 cameras to keep a close watch on the city. The real-time testing of these cameras will be held during the winter session. The cameras installed at Ramgiri, Vidhan Bhavan, morcha points, morcha routes, and other important locations will be used for keeping tight vigil at these places.

Highly placed sources claimed that two mobile surveillance vehicles will be deployed at prominent morcha spots at Gowari T-Point. Drone cameras will be deployed to maintain vigilance over the morchas. During the winter session, these cameras can be used to assess the situation and divert the traffic as well as keep watch on VIP movement route.

Every year during winter session of State Legislature, roads are abuzz with traffic jams due to VIP movements and morchas. Already, the city is facing problems due to ongoing constructions of Metro Rail project and cement concrete roads. Against this backdrop, deployment of cameras will help cops a lot.
