Genuine efforts must to provide due benefits to sanitary workers: Hathibed

MEMBER of Rashtriya Safai Kamgar Ayog Dilip K Hathibed said it is the responsibility of every individual to work for betterment of people who have been extending support since generations to provide clean environment to citizens, the sanitary workers. Hathibed was addressing a meeting of senior officials of various departments including sanitary workers of the division in conference hall at Collectorate. Divisional Commissioner Gulshan Bamra and collectors of various districts were also present on the occasion.


Hathibed said officials concerned must ensure seriousness towards implementation of welfare schemes for sanitary workers. Genuine efforts are needed to provide due benefits to these workers. He said and added that Rashtriya Safai Kamgar Ayog has been bestowed responsibility of monitoring execution of welfare schemes. Hathibed said after inspecting ground realities, he will submit report to the State Government.


He asked officials to ensure the orders are followed in toto and not to take the meeting lightly. He sought information of actions taken to ensure health check-up of sanitary workers. He directed officials concerned to ensure health check-up of workers in every three months. Hathibed also directed to provide needed equipment to sanitary workers who work in sewer. He also asked Municipal Commissioner Vedprakash to take needed steps for housing arrangements for sanitary workers. He directed for library and community hall in slum areas. While talking on Swachh Bharat Mission, Hathibed said it is objective of the Government to provide all basic facilities and benefits to everyone. He directed to organise special camps to provide benefits of schemes to sanitary workers and also publicise the schemes properly.


During the meeting, collectors of various districts gave detailed information of efforts they have been taking for welfare of sanitary workers. Later, the member of Rashtriya Safai Kamgar Ayog sought details of cases related to atrocities on SC, ST people in various districts of the division from senior police officials and gave necessary directions. Office-bearers of various organisations of sanitary workers presented their part and apprised of problems being faced by sanitary workers.

 

After lending patient ear to their demands, Hathibed gave needed directions to officers concerned, he specially asked collectors to take immediate steps to fill vacant posts of sanitary workers. Collector Mahesh Chandra Choudhary, Superintendent of Police Shashikant Shukla, Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat Harshika Singh, collectors, CEOs and officers of Urban Administration and Development Departments of various districts attended the meeting.
