International Principals’ Education Conference from November 27

Keeping with its tradition of foucssing on issues concerning the stress factor in education and formulating strategies to make learning process a fun, the 6th International Principals' Education Conference (IPEC) 2017 starts from November 27. This year's theme of 3-day conference is ‘Generating Happy Minds-Thought Behind Education’, and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping, Water Resources, Ganga Development and Rejuvenation, Nitin Gadkari is going to inaugurate it at Chitnavis Trust Centre, Civil Lines, at 8.30 am, informed Devendra Dasture, Patron, and Dr Mrunalini Dasture, Convenor of the conference, at a press conference on Friday. Ajay Sancheti, Member of Rajya Sabha, is guest of honour.

On the opening day, Vijay Phanshikar, Editor, ‘The Hitavada’, is going to deliver keynote address and focus on the theme, underline its importance in education so that the participating Principals can ponder over the strategy to be evolved over during next three-days of conference. Also on opening day, Jayant Shasrabudhe, All India Organising Secretary, Vidnyan Bharti, Dr S Neelkanath, world renowned psychologist and counselor, and Divya Lal, CEO, Smart Learning, would also shed light on the issues concerning today's education and the emerging scenario on global level, 
said Dasture.

During the three-days the participating Principals' would present papers on the topics namely, Inculcating Art of Happiness Through Your Subject, Psychological Requisite for Happiness, Schools-Road Map to Happiness, Partnership of School and Family to Generate Happy Students, and Importance of Sports, Music, Art, Culture for Happiness. Dr Mrunalini Dasture said this year conference they have invited Ronu Mujumdar, renowned Flute player, who will shed light on importance of music in learning process, Babar Ali, the youngest Principal of the World, Skand Bali, Principal, The Hyderabad Public School, Rita Aggarwal, Consulting Psychologist, Niraj Jain, Director, Scholastic, C P Viswanath, CMD, Karadi Path. Each of the invited speaker have their own standing in their respective fields and are well known experts on the subjects. The conference will try to work out a strategy so that for children schooling is not a boring experience and further they do not feel burden of studies, elaborated Dr Mrunalini while addressing a question.

For the valedictory function, Gen. V K Singh (Retd.), Union Minister of State for External Affairs and North East, is the chief guest while Dr Vikas Amte is guest of honour and the programme is on November 29 at 9.30 am, informed Devendra. Gen. Singh will also release the souvenir of the conference with the theme “Generating Happy Minds”. A salient feature of the event is presentation of Nachketa Award, wherein Principals who had practically introduced last year's concept are rewarded.

Elaborating the point, Dr Mrunalini informed that every year 20 Principals are selected on basis of their work whose evidences they share and they are given cash award of Rs. 5,000 each. The emphasis of our conference is not holding discussion but to ensure that it is practically implemented in the field as we want the system to adapt to change and explore new techniques so that overall the education field can benefit from it, the two said.

During the conference also the Principals put in their ideas on the given theme 20 best papers are adjudged and rewarded. All together 51 Principals are going to present their papers and there will be participation of over 400 Principals. Asked about curriculum, Dr Rasika Dasture, Co-Convenor, said while curriculum is aimed at training the mind of a child, our attempt is to shape their overall character and equip their personality with such traits that come what may they would successfully overcome any situation per se in life ahead.Shraddha Kelapure, Pratibha Madan, Samta Vasudevan, Kamal Suryavanshi, Parasher Yeshwant, Abhijit Das and Sameer Kale were also present at the press conference.
