Metro Rail pillar’s iron frame falls in Sitabuldi

In an another accident at construction site of Nagpur Metro Rail, an iron frame meant for construction of pillar imbalanced and fell on the road in heavy traffic area at Munje square in Sitabuldi area on Friday. According to information, the incident occurred at around 4 pm.

The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation’s (MMRCL’s) contractors constructing metro rail pillars on the stretch between Munje Square and Anand Talkies square on war footing level. The iron frame made for construction of concrete pillar suddenly imbalanced at 4 pm. A crane was called to hold the pillar but the attempt was failed and the iron frame fell on the road.

The incident panicked the citizens and resulted into heavy traffic jam. Large numbers of onlookers were gathered at the spot after the accident. Officials metro rail arrived at the spot and instructed to cut off the iron frame.

A press release of MMRCL claimed that the iron frame was cut off within three hours. Power supply in nearby area was also snapped for an hour. BJP MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh visited the spot and discussed the matter with MMRCL officials.
