Nationwide campaign to clean main rivers soon: Uma Bharti

“A NATIONWIDE campaign to clean main rivers will be started soon in order to ensure protection of rivers and start a water revolution to solve water crisis in Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, Marathwada in Maharashtra and Bihar. The Cabinet has recently approved a proposal and allotted a budget of Rs 18,000 crore to Rs 20,000 crore to ensure water in scarce areas. Water management is required to set priorities of water utilisation for irrigation, for animals and drinking water in rural areas. The State Government should forward a proposal in this regard by setting its priorities to solve problems in water scarce areas in Madhya Pradesh,” said Union Water Supply and Sanitation Minister and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Uma Bharti. She was addressing a mammoth gathering during public dedication ceremony of Rani Avanti Bai Khel Parisar and community hall in Pahadikhera Janpad Panchayat, Barela.

Addressing the programme, Union Minister Uma Bharti said that Gujarat is best model for water management and the same will be adopted to solve problem of water crisis across the country. Former Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi succeeded in irrigating Kutch with best water management practice through river Narmada. Residents of Uttar Pradesh recognised development theory of Prime Minister Narendra Modi through landslide victory of BJP.

The same will be repeated in forthcoming Gujarat Assembly elections. She said that leadership of PM Narendra Modi will change destiny of the country in next decade. Bharti applauded working of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and suggested him to forward a proposal of priority areas to solve water problem in a phased manner. Speaking on the occasion, Member of Parliament Damoh and former Union Minister Prahlad Patel encouraged people of Lodhi community to understand their strength and ensure their contribution in development of the nation. On the occasion, MLA Pratibha Singh, nominated MLA, L B Lobo, Jila Panchayat, President, Manorama Patel, Umashankar Tiwari, Shiv Patel, Devi Singh Patel and others were present. Janpad Panchayat President Sanjay Patel convened the programme and proposed a vote of thanks.
