The grieving family members demanded immediate arrest of the accused

Agrekar family on Saturday claimed involvement of minimum six accused in the brutal murder of Rahul Agrekar. “After interacting with friends and family members, we have came to a conclusion that there were minimum six accused involved in the murder case. They have not only murdered Rahul but also torched his body to destroy evidence. Such crime can not be done by only two persons,” said Suresh Agrekar, father of Rahul Agrekar and demanded immediate arrest of the accused.

The grieving Agrekar family members called a press conference at their residence Malti Bhawan near Darodkar Square after a section of media reported some cricket bookie connection of the deceased. Agrekars firmly denied the media reports. They said, a section of police officers was allegedly providing false reports to media to divert attention from failure of police as the cops utterly failed to arrest make any arrest in the case.

Jayesh Agrekar, elder brother of Rahul, informed that he received first ransom call at 2.08 pm. “The caller asked me to reach Jagadamba temple in Karadi with Rs one crore else Rahul will be killed. Immediately, I contacted my father and close friends. We had taken a decision to inform police. Our friends and relatives approached Lakadganj police and Crime Branch at around 4 pm,” he said.

Still, swift action on parts of police was missing. The police had not made all their counterparts active immediately due to which the accused managed to escape from district with the Bolero jeep, the family members alleged.
When the accused had again called Jayesh at around 7 pm. Jayesh told the abductors that Rs 40 lakh was arranged. The abductors told him to come with Rs one crore at Koradi. But they did not called again. Next day, Rahul’s charred body was found in Petichuha.

Even the family members are unable to get a hint about the motive behind the gruesome murder.
“Accused Durgesh Bokde (32) was our trusted customer. Even Rahul had given Rs one lakh to him on credit when Bokde was in need,” a member of the family told.
Sudhir Agrekar, uncle of Rahul, Summat Jain, Sandip Deshpande and others also were present at the press conference.

‘Planning was on since a month’
The family members informed that the accused were planning the crime since a month.
Accused Bokde had offered liquor to two workers of Agrekar family a fortnight ago to extract information about the family, said Jayesh Agrekar.
