Cadaveric Organ Donation, Transplant Awareness Programme organised

Chhattisgarh Human Organ Transplant Organisation hold a Cadaveric Organ Donation and Transplant Awareness Programme 2017 on Saturday at Physiotherapy Hall of Dr BR Ambedkar Memorial Hospital.
Over 250 persons took part in the awareness programme. Information was given on Organ donation and transplant by the doctors.

Professor Dr Punit Gupta, Nodal Officer of Chhattisgarh Human Organ Transplant Organisation, Raipur informed that the Organ Donation Day will be celebrated on 27th November. An awareness programme is launched by National body all over India from November 20 and conclude on November 27. In compliance to that an awareness programme was organised here on Saturday.

Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr AK Chandrakar, Director of Medical Education, Guest of Honour was Dr Abha Singh, Dean Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Medical College.
The other speakers on the occasion were Urologist Dr Yogesh Barapatre, Dr Suresh Singh, Nephrologist Dr Punit Gupta, Cardiologist Dr BL Bansal, Burn & Plastic Surgeon Dr Krishnanand Dhruv, Neurosurgeon Dr Sanjeev Gupta, and Ophthalmologist Dr M L Garg.

Dr Punit Gupta informed that every year there are needs of 1.5 lakh kidney, 50,000 hearts and over 1 lakh levers for the patient all over India out of which only ten percent demands are fulfilled. Remaining 90 percent patient die due to unavailability of the organs.

Through awareness programme a slogan was given ‘Ang Lekar Aaye The-Ang Dekar Jayenge’. He further added that from January onwards Kidney transplant will be successfully done at Dr BR Ambedkar Hospital.
