Dental Hygienist acquitted of rape charges

A 29-year-old Dental Hygienist, who was posted in one of the Government’s medical education institutions in State capital, has been acquitted of the charges of rape. The prosecutrix in the case was a staff nurse of the same institution.

Court of the Special Judge, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Abdul Zahid Qureshi has acquitted the accused dental hygienist of the charges of Section 376 of IPC. The prosecutrix stated in the court that she had developed physical relation with the accused after mutual consent. Thus, the prosecutrix was agreed party in the case. Hence, the offence is not proved against the accused, the court has observed.

In this case, the doctor, who did the medical examination of the complainant, was one of the prosecution witnesses. According to the doctor’s statement, no injury mark was found on her body during medical examination of her private part. The accused dental hygienist hailed from Maharashtra and at the time of incident he resided in an area that falls in the limits of Kabir Nagar police station in the state capital. In connection with the said case, he was in judicial custody from March 3, 2016 to April 12, 2016.
