MOCK DRIL revealed the lackluster policing in twin city of Bhilai and Durg on Sunday. However, the police officials and personnel from only two police stations were awarded for maintaining minimum response time following information of loot on knife point in Bhilai Nagar Police Station limits during the mock drill, conducted in the twin city on Sunday noon. Some police stations were directed for tendering explanation for negligence in the same context. The mock drill was carried out in compliance of guidelines from IGP, Durg Police Range office.

According to information, during mock drill conducted on Sunday noon, District Police Control Room alerted police stations across the twin city regarding broad daylight loot on knife point, occurred near Jayanti Stadium in Bhilai Nagar Police Station limits, and the police officials and personnel were also apprized about the details regarding identity of unidentified ruffians, who fled the crime scene on two different motorbikes including a ‘Bullet’ motorbike and other details in the same context. After the crime, the police officials and personnel at most check-points were seen negligent and mock ruffians managed to jump the barriers stealthily while dodging them. It is learnt that the telephones at some police stations are out of order and hampering communication of vital importance.

However, the police officials and personnel from all police stations in the twin city managed in maintaining minimum response time and erected barriers but they lacked alertness and the mock ruffians managed to hoodwink these police officials and personnel on point duty. These police personnel were served notices and were asked to submit explanation.

Shashi Mohan Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police (City) informed that the mock drill was conducted to maintain minimum possible response time after information of loot, or other such crimes.

He informed that only at two checking points in Pulgaon and Supela the police teams succeeded in laying hands on mock ruffians and they will be rewarded for quick response and alertness on duty. He categorically stated that senior police officials would review the delayed response by officials and personnel from other police stations.

The negligent officials and personnel from the police stations concerned would be demanded explanations for the delay, informed ASP (City), Singh.
