Staff Reporter,

Congress General Secretary and former Union Minister, Kamal Nath, on Sunday said that there are chances of tampering in programmed electronic device and that too could be done with the Electronic Voting Machines. The deviation of 15 to 20 per cent in EVMs can change whole election results. Results in Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections are proven examples of this.

Congress leader Kamal Nath was replying to a query related to EVM tampering and its impact on elections during a press conference, on Sunday. Lambasting the BJP Government heavily in the State and Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan for misguiding the public over the issue of development in State, Nath said, in past 14 years of BJP Government in Madhya Pradesh and 12 years of Shivraj Singh Chouhan as Chief Minister, the State had witnessed only failures and no development.

During these years, agriculture, employment generation, industralisation got affected badly. He said, during Congress Government, farmers had demanded rise in crop support prices. But, in 14 years of BJP Government, the farmers are begging actually before Government for support price payments. He said, Chief Minister Price Difference Scheme on scheduled crops has failed in delivering benefits to farmers across the State.

Replying to a query about the Krishi Karmana Award won by Madhya Pradesh for high production ratio in farming, Kamal Nath said “Madhya Pradesh has earned number one position in suicide cases of farmers and not in irrigation capacity development, crop production or quality of agriculture produce.” The irrigation capacity development plans were initiated by Congress leader, Digvijay Singh, the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and not by BJP leaders.

Kamal Nath further said that State Government has failed on all fronts, especially, in developing conductive atmosphere for industry. In past years, as a result of Industry Investors’ Meet organised by Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, double the number of industries coming to Madhya Pradesh closed down, killing employment of thousands. The failure of Government is proving dearer for youths.

He further commented on failure of demonetisation scheme, Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime inception. He said that, Government has failed to control corruption in system through economic reforms that were incepted without any discussion over its impact on economy. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and his Cabinet failed in assessing the damage caused to our economy. Commenting on the prevailing relations with neighbouring countries like Pakistan and China, Kamal Nath said it is result of wrong policies of the Union Government. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has been touring across the world and enjoying red-carpet welcome in different countries for offering purchase agreements and that too, with condition of not making the deal public. He lastly declared prime focus of Congress party and its priorities are to expose the ongoing corruption in the Madhya Pradesh and in the country by the BJP ruling governments.

On this occasion Congress leader, MP (Rajya Sabha), Vivek Krishn Tankha commenting on VYAPAM case, said the investigation agencies are working under pressure of Government and are giving clean chits to the accused against whom the agencies were assigned for investigation.

He said, Congress is going to challenge the decisions before the apex court. He said, right now, VYAPAM is just initiation and our other complaints related to recruitment of constables, Patwari and other posts filled through VYAPAM are yet to take initiative, he added. MLA Tarun Bhanot, Neelesh Awasthi, MPCC Vice President, Lakhan Ghanghoria and other Congress leaders accompanied him during press meet.
