Winter Session starts today

The Winter Session of Assembly, starting from Monday onwards, is likely to be stormy as Opposition is fully prepared to deal a huge blow to Government over sensational gangrape case of Bhopal and spate in crime against girls and women in State. In the twelve-day session, there would be ten sittings. Assembly Secretariat has received information of as many as 3,635 questions. There are 201 information of call attention followed by 13 information of adjournment motions. Likewise, 54 information of zero hour have been also received. Information related to bill has been also received by the Assembly Secretariat.

In this Winter Session, Government will table the bill to provide capital punishment to rapists of below 12-year-old girl. The bill also seeks harsher punishment to accused involved in other heinous offences committed against girls. Tight security arrangements have been made in and around assembly premises. Armed cops are guarding the entrance gates of assembly. Opposition has prepared enough to put government in dock over burning issues pertaining to deteriorating law and order, spurt in crime against women and girls, gang rape cases, farmer suicides, haze surrounding Bhavantar scheme etc. Knowing that it would be cornered on many issues, government has also done adequate preparations to repel the attack of opposition on the floor of house. Apart from this, on Sunday, Assembly officials led by Principal Secretary A P Singh observed Constitution Day.
