Staff Reporter,

“Completion of third phase of Jabalpur- Gondia broad gauge has fulfilled 35-year-old demand of residents and paved the way for development of several villages falling under the route. The project was given green signal by senior BJP leader, Atal Behari Vajpayee, but it was delayed during the regime of UPA Government from 7 years to 17 years. Following the partial working, the UPA Government had allotted the budget of only Rs 10 crore against the project cost of Rs 511 crore. BJP Government has completed the three phases of project in last three years and the project is targetted to be completed by the year 2018,” said Rakesh Singh, Member of Parliament and Chief Whip of Bhartiya Janata Party in Lok Sabha.

MP, Rakesh Singh was interacting with media after reaching Jabalpur Railway Station on maiden trip of Nainpur-Jabalpur passenger train after its inauguration in Nainpur, on Tuesday.

He charged the Congress-led UPA Government of depriving the Mahakoshal region of development works. BJP leaders and workers staged several massive demonstrations against Central Government like gherao of WCR, General Manager Office, Padyatra from Katni to Jabalpur, Halla Bol Yatra, Bailgadi Yatra (bullock-cart march), Mahapanchayat, etc. for materialisation of the broad gauge project. Since the NDA Government came to power at the Centre, all the hurdles in Jabalpur-Gondia broad gauge project were removed and third phase of the project has been completed in just three years. He assured the residents that fourth phase of the project from Nainpur to Gondia is targetted to be completed by the year 2018.
