Business Bureau,

Paying heed to the long pending demand of the region’s artisans, Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways, Shipping and Ganga Rejuvenation, recently took
initiative for building a hall on a piece of land at Hazari Pahad in the city.

For quite long, the Vidarbha Handicraft Artisans Welfare Association, a body of region’s artisans, was demanding the State and Central Governmnets to provide funds for building the hall so that the artisans could organise exhibitions of their products on regular basis.

It is important to note that the State Government had allotted a 7,350 square meter land in Ganga Nagar, Hazari Pahad to the association. But because of paucity of funds, the artisans were unable to carry out construction and thus the land was laying idle.

Recently, when a delegation of the artisans under the leadership of Abdul Jabbar Shaikhaji, Secretary of the Association, met Nitin Gadkari at his office in city and urged him to look into the matter, the Union Minister called Shambhaji Nilangekar, Minister of Labour and Employment, Skill Development and Entrepre-neurship of Maharashtra State.

Gadkari discussed the issue with Nilangekar and asked him to fulfill the demand of the artisans.
Earlier, the delegation of artisans informed Gadkari that the association would carry out training programmes, design workshops, marketing and exhibitions for handicraft in the proposed hall.

Gadkari also wrote a letter to the State Government to provide funds for construction of a 5,000 square feet area hall.
Jaffar Ahmed, Ashish Joshi, Priti Pethe, Smita Pathak, Prabha Deharkar, Shagufta Parvin, Abidunissa Nasim Sheikh, Sarifa Be, Kalpana Bhusari, Kanij Fatma, Nadim Sheikh, Bhagwan Bhusari, Ashok Paliwal, Gopal Jamgade, Firoz Ahmed, Shahjada Sheikh and 200 others artisans were
part of the delegation.
