Jyotish, Vastu and Purohit Vidya course starts this year

MINISTER for School Education Kunwar Vijay Shah said that ‘Jyotish’, ‘Vastu’ and ‘Purohit’ science are important part of ancient Indian culture. Concrete steps will be taken by the State Government for their conservation and development.

He further mentioned that One year diploma course in Jyotish, Vastu and Purohit science will be started by the School Education Department from this year. Kunwar Shah was addressing the two-day Rashtriya Jyotish Workshop in Bhopal on Tuesday. Renowned ‘Jyotishacharyas’ of the country are participating in the workshop being organised at Rashriya Sanskrit Sansthan in Baghsewania, Bhopal.Minister Kunwar Shah mentioned that the ancient culture of India is being affected by modernisation.

He stated that human life, social events and climate change are affected by ‘Jyotish Vidhya’. There is a need for good ‘Jyotishacharya’ to understand these changes. Shah said that workshop at each District headquarters will be organised on ‘Jyotish’ science and its relevance to the present time. People of all the sections of the society will be included in these workshops. Deliberating on Sanskrit’s development in the State, Kunwar Shah mentioned that 100 seat hostel will be started in Bhopal for girl students learning Sanskrit subject.

Moreover, efforts will be made to make Sanskrit an employment oriented subject. Addressing the workshop, Former Vice Chancellor of Vaidik Vishwavidhyalaya-Ujjain, Prof. Mithila Prasad Tripathi said that Jyotish knowledge is a subject of self-welfare and public-welfare. Therefore, it has been given always a higher position in the society. He further stated that there is a need for new research on this subject with the changing time. He also gave information on the importance of ‘Panchang’ and ‘Kalganna’. Prof. M Chandrashekhar also addressed the programme.

Principal of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Prof. Hansdhar Jha informed about the objectives of the workshop. Workshop will be concluded at 4.00 pm on November 29. Minister for School Education Kunwar Vijay Shah and Minister of State for School Education Deepak Joshi will attend the concluding programme. Mainly effects of planets on individuals and society, role of Jyotish to decide livelihood, role of Jyotish Shastra in diagnosis and cure of diseases and role of Jyotish in predictions of natural calamities will be discussed in the workshop.
