Kurukshetra is inside our heart: Hashmi

IN A three day programme organised by Shrimad Bhagwadgeeta Ayojan Samiti of Bhopal, Professor Azhar Hashmi presented discourses from the Bhagwada Geeta at Manas Bhawan. The programme has been organised on the occasion of ‘Geeta Jayanti’.

Hashmi spoke about the importance of ‘karm’ and how we should never stop moving ahead while performing our pious duties, and not expecting anything in return. Hashmi, who resides in ratlam is a flag bearer of saint tradition and has been a researcher of Indian culture. He has given lectures at national level symposiums. He is also a writer and his poem ‘Ram wala Hindostan chahiye’ is very famous. He has been felicitated with various awards besides ‘special poetry award’. The professor cited the example of Krishna and how he taught Arjuna to follow his path of Karma. Hashmi who has been doing discourses, not just from Geeta but also from Vedas and religious texts of Buddhism and Jainism for past 16 years said, “Arjuna was unable to go on with his duty due to affection but Lord Krishna told him about the path of Karma and that we all have a pious duty to perform without heeding the result.

” He said that we have to fight the evil within us and the Kurukshetra is within our heart. Hashmi further said that Geeta is not just a religious book; it is a scripture that tells us about the realtions between nation and individual, our duties and the path of karma. Hashmi continued saying that many pictures can be drawn on the canvas of Geeta with the brush of duty and knowledge. The spiritual and knowledge contexts of Bhagwad Geeta will be discussed on the second and third day of the programme.
