Staff Reporter,

TEMPERATURE has started tickling down across the state reminding denizens to ready the woolens on time. With Ambikapur recording the minimum temperature of 8.8 degree Celsius on Tuesday, the lowest temperature this season in the state, winter has finally arrived and the existing conditions favour mercury to dip further in the coming days.

Sudden unexpected slide in mercury level brought down the minimum temperature in Durg to 10.8 degree from 15.4 degree Celsius recorded on November 24. It was closely followed with Pendra Road, Jagdalpur, Bilaspur and Mana Airport recording 10.9, 11.0, 11.4 and 13.9 degrees respectively. However, surprisingly Bhilai and capital Raipur still awaits the winter chill as temperature remained at 15.0 and 14.5 degree Celsius respectively which is the highest minimum temperature of the state on Tuesday.

According to weatherman, the North-Westerly wind is blowing steadily to the Central part of the country covering Chhattisgarh for last few days. With no indication of any local developments or western disturbance, chilly conditions would further strengthen in the state. On capital context, the minimum temperature was 14.5 degrees and expected to be around 15 degrees on November 29, Met data stated.

The blowing of cool and chilly winds to Central India is influenced by the snowfall in the upper reaches of the mountains and particularly in Jammu and Kashmir region. The North-Westerly chill would also help to strengthen impact of winter and the temperature is expected to come down gradually across the state.

In the state-wide forecast, the weather is expected to be dry on November 29. The sky will be mainly clear with minimum temperature likely around 15 degrees in Raipur on Wednesday.
