Gang cheating 6 branches of finance co busted

On Thursday, the district police busted a gang, which cheated nearly 6 branches of Mannapuram Finance Gold Loan (pawnbrokers) in the State by clandestinely pawning fake gold ornaments. The four accused arrested in the connection are Sonu Yadav, Dinesh Shah, Chiranjit Shah and Bunty Shah all resident of 24 Paraghana West Bengal and Shivan (Bihar).


ASP (City), Shashi Mohan Singh, while narrating the incident about their arrest in a press conference, informed that Area Manager of Mannapuram Finance Ltd Gold Loan, Jagannath Sahu on November 1 informed Mohan Nagar Police that two youths have come to pawn gold jewellery in their office, situated before Bunkar Sangh, Santaribadi Durg, whereas both of them have today itself borrowed the loan of Rs 190,000 from another branch, situated at Maharaja Chowk, Padmanabhpur, Durg, by pawning 93.5 gram gold jewelle ry. The Aadhaar Card that they have submitted against their ID proof comprises of the same photo and number with different address.


Mohan Nagar Police immediately swung into action and raided Santarabadi Branch and arrested Sonu Yadav and his friend Dinesh Shah. During interrogation they confessed that by changing the name in Aadhaar Card from Sonu Yadav to Pawan Singh, they have cheated the bank by
Rs 1,90,000 from Maharaja Branch by pawning fake jewellery and reached Santarabadi Branch to cheat again.
He further informed that two of their friends are Chiranjit Shah and Bunty Shah are lodging with them at Dream Palace Hotel, Station Road Durg, and the cash of Rs 1,90,000 is with them.

On being informed, they were arrested by raiding them when they were trying to escape. All the four were interrogated separately wherein they informed that earlier too this they have cheated Rs 10 lakhs from Badai Para Branch Raipur, Pandari Branch Raipur, Baas Chaal Raipur Branch, and Santoshi Nagar, Raipur Branch, while around Rs 6 lakh from Maharana Pratap Chowk, Branch Bilaspur and Link Raod, Bilaspur Branch by pawning fake jewellery.


Out of the four accused Dinesh Kumar Shah prepared the fake Aadhaar Card by scanning it on computer. Accused Chiranjit Shah makes false thickly gold plated ornaments to cheat appraisers. The other two accused Bunty Shah and Akash Shah used to visit various banks and borrow loans. On the memorandum of accused Dinesh Kumar Shah, the cash or Rs 1, 90,000 was seized by Police from Hotel Room. The other materials confiscated by police comprises of seven different Aadhaar Cards, 4 voter ID in different names and one electronic mini electronic weighing machine, one pan card, 2 set of fake gold jewelry and Rs 1,90,000 from their possession. Case has been registered under Section 420, 467, 468, 471, 34 of IPC against the four accused separately at Padmanabhpur Police Station and further investigation are in progress.
