MPHRC notice to Bhopal IG

Staff Reporter,

Taking cognizance of the horrific gangrape that rocked Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) has asked for a detail report from IG Bhopal. The MPHRC has asked for a detailed report within ten days. The human rights panel wanted to know why the police took time to file FIR, medical reports of the accused and the rape victim when it was done? The commission also wanted to know whether police filed complaint as per Section 164 or not. The MPHRC also wanted to know what kind of procedure is followed in case a complaint is to be filed in different jurisdiction and also is there any social provision in case of horrific case like rape. If there is no guidelines followed still when the directions will be taken regard this issue.

It was reported that 19-year-old student in Bhopal, studying for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), was tied up and gangraped for three hours on October 31 in the busiest part of the city by four men. Prolonging the horror, police also took time to lodge FIR for hours and refused to investigate until she and her parents found the rapists and dragged them to the police station. The girl was assaulted near the city’s Habibganj Railway Station, and just about 100 meters from a railway police post. She usually took a train from the station to her hometown about an hour away, after her coaching classes for the IAS.
