People should come forward for organ donation: MP Alok Sanjar

At a press conference organised by Bhopal Runners at Noor-Us-Sabah Hotel awareness session about organ donation was organised. The chief guest was MP Alok Sanjar who commenced the event by lamp lighting. In the launch event of Run Bhopal Run, which is going to be organised on December 3 addressing the audience he said that is high time public should be made aware of importance of organ donation. More and more people should join this noble cause and a change can be done only by raising awareness through event like Run Bhopal Run.

Organ Donation is the gift of an organ to a person who, needs a transplant to improve his condition and health status. It is a procedure in which a health organ (donor) is taken from an individual, who is either living or deceased and is transplanted into a person whose respective orphan (recipient) is malfunctioning. The procedures of registration and formal process are easy but very few people are actually aware about the importance of organ donation. Alok Sanjar himself being a organ donor said that donated organs give the recipient the opportunity of a longer and better quality of life.

The main objectives of events like this to also to motivate and encourage more people towards organ donation in their life. Referring to special guest Rekha Kumbhkar wife of late Vishnu Kumbhkar who was organ donor he said that people like her are inspirational, who fought with society and traditional values to get across a dream wish of his deceased husband which is not everyone’s cup of tea.

Rekha Kumbhkar wife of late Vishnu Kumbhkar was present as special guest. She said that when her husband died of brain hemorrhage it was deep shock to his entire family but as she wanted her husbands last wish to be completed , she decided to donate her husband’s organs which also witnessed wide spread criticism from his husbands relatives . After which she has taken pledge that she will act as facilitator to remove the hesitations of the people about donating organs. Late Vishnu donated his liver and kidneys. She was present with her family and addressed the gathering and encouraged the audience to promote the cause of organ donation and also acknowledged the Bhopal organ donation society team.

The main highlight of the event was the launch of RUN BHOPAL RUN T-shirt and the app and also the 3rd edition of Bhopal Runners magazine which was launched by the eminent guest to distribute the messages of organ donation all over the country. Run Bhopal Run is going to be organised on December 3 with the theme ‘Run for Hope of Life’ The run includes 21k half marathon, 11kand 5k.
