Benazir College shifting put off

Minister for Higher Education Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya has issued directives to officials on Saturday to postponed the decision regarding shifting of Government Benazir College to the new building located in the Kolar in the current academic session. Keeping in view the inconvenience to the students, Minister Pawaiya instructed that the action to shift college in the current session should be postponed and Atal Behari Vajpayee Hindi University should be permitted to work from the new building situated at Kolar. Duly order will be issued on Monday in this regard. Opposing Benazir College campus shifting to new location in Kolar area, large number of students demonstrated on Saturday. Students said that college should be there at Jehangirabad as they have to travel long distance. MLA Surendranath Singh also supported the students’ campaign and said college should not be shifted to other area. Devyani Mishra, Students’ Council President of Benazir College, supported the camp and demonstrated in campus throughout day. She said, majority of students belong to old city and Jehangirabad areas and they cannot afford to travel such a long distance. She further added, before Jehangirabad college was running in old city area and now again officials are shifting which is creating problem for them. For past one month, students are demonstrating in campus and also launched signature campaign. They said instead of improving academics of college, management is focusing on building. According to sources, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi showed keen interest to shift its campus at Kolar building.
