‘Give facilities to employees under EIC Scheme’

A delegation of Rashtriya Mazdoor Congress (INTUC) led by Mukund Muley, Secretary met Dr Reshma Verma, Senior State Medical Commissioner (Maharashtra and Goa), of Employees Insurance Corporation (EIC) and A K Sharma, Deputy Director of EIC for Vidarbha region. Muley discussed about the health issues of employees who are registered under the Employees Insurance Scheme.


Muley said, “Though Maharashtra State Employees Insurance Scheme is being funded by the EIC but the fund is not utilised properly.” He requested Commissioner to quarterly visit Nagpur. He said, “The hospital which look after the entire Vidarbha should have full time doctors. It must be made mandatory for the doctors to stay at least till 2.30 pm daily. Provide ample sitting space for employees at OPD.”


The two wards of the EIC hospital is closed since 3 years. They should be re-started. Patients are refereed to Medical College Hospital, which must be stopped and the doctors should refer patients to private hospital which are having tie up for the scheme. Employees from all over the region comes to the hospital. They should get proper treatment at the hospital.”


Muley demanded to bring back the two hospitals falling under scheme which had been shifted to Mumbai. Sonography machine in the Somwaripeth hospital is not working, new machine should be provided. Also new medical equipment should be given to the hospital. There was one private hospital of Dr Khadatkar for children. The facility should be re-started.


Muley requested Commissioner to tie-up with eye hospital so that the employees can get proper eye treatment. He also demanded to fill the vacant posts at Somwaripeth hospital of technicians, nurses and pharmacists. Commissioner Dr Verma assured that proper follow-up will be taken at right time.
