2 held from Odisha in loot at gun point case

POLICE succeeded in laying hands on two in Odisha in connection with their involvement in loot on gunpoint, reportedly occurred in Sector-10, Bhilai. The police team also recovered the looted SUV, abandoned by the accused at Mahasamund, informed Shashimohan Singh, ASP (City) while addressing the mediapersons at Police Control Room, Bhilai, on Sunday.


He informed that the two accused arrested by police were identified as Veerendra Singh (28), a resident of Ludhiana, Punjab and Afsar Khan (20), a resident of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The accomplice Tohid Khan, a resident of Rajnandgaon is still absconding. In this connection the police also booked the landlord identified as Rakesh Verma, a resident of Talpuri International Colony, Bhilai for keeping police in dark while apprising the accused that the police team was enquiring about them. As per confession of the accused, after looting car on gunpoint, they were fleeing to other state, but some technical snag occurred with the car so that despite adequate coolant the car was heating up
frequently and they ultimately abandoned it near Gyani Dhhaba in Mahasmund prior to fleeing to Odisha after boarding a bus. The three accused Tohid Khan, Veerendra Singh and Afsar Khan are the recorded criminals, and they were reportedly involved in bank robbery attempts, occurred in Rajnandgaon and Bhilai-3 here.


ASP (City), Singh informed that as per facts recorded in the investigation so far, after hatching the conspiracy to strike rich viz bank robbery, or similar crimes to gain a hefty amount, the accused were living here since one month in a rented quarter in Parijat Sector of Talpuri International Colony, Bhilai and conducting reiki in the city. The police investigation also revealed that the accused were conducting reiky for stealing two-wheeler and four-wheeler to commit the crimes by using the stolen vehicles. The victim in this loot at gunpoint Dushyat Sahu, appeared to be the soft target and after stealing a motorbike from Chandulal Chandrakar Memorial Hospital, Supela, Bhilai the accused looted the car at gunpoint. Tohid Khan, the accused in this case had bought the country pistol for Rs 6,000 and he, along with the firearm, is still at large.


It maybe recalled that at about 9:45 pm on Tuesday, Dushyant Sahu (32), son of Yuvaraj Singh Sahu, a resident of Ispat Nagar, Risali, Bhilai was on way home in his car (Maruti Ertiga/CG07/AW/1062/2015 model/White coloured) when three unidentified ruffians, riding two different motorbikes, intercepted his SUV near Ruabandha Market in Sector-10, Bhilai and two of the ruffians held him at gunpoint and kidnapped him in his own car.


The victim Dushyant Sahu was taken in his car to Nagpura, Durg via Pulgaon Chowk wherein he was thrown out of car after gagged with his handkerchief and hands tied behind with a ‘gamchha’ near Mahmara intersection in the village. The police have already released the CCTV footages of the two accused. Dushyant Sahu, the son of former Senior Manager of BSP, sells fancy items and toys for earning livelihood. He was putting up stalls in the SUV on daily basis near Berojgar Chowk in Bhilai for last five months.
