President Kovind performs ‘puja’ at Baba Ghasidas temple of Giroudpuri

President Ram Nath Kovind performed ‘bhumipujan’ for the construction of a community hall at a cost of Rs 2.25 crore at Giroudpuri

The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, on Monday, visited Baloda Bazaar-Bhatapara district’s Giroudpuri Dham – the birthplace of Satnami spiritual leader Ghasidas – about 135 km from here and performed ‘puja’ at the temple of Baba Ghasidas. The President was accompanied by Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Punnulal Mohle, Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh Vivek Dhand and spiritual leaders of Satnami Samaj on the occasion. The President also performed ‘bhumipujan’ and laid foundation stone for the construction of a community hall costing Rs 2.25 crore.


The foundation laying ceremony was also attended by Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, School Education Minister Kedar Kashyap, Culture Minister Dayal Das Baghel and Lok Sabha MP Kamla Devi Patle. President Kovind said that Jait Khamb, India’s tallest (77-metre high) brick tower Jait Khamb in the famous Girodpuri temple costing over Rs 50 crore, symbolises truth, non-violence and benevolence of Baba Ghasidas besides its structural and architecture magnificence and beauty.


It is to be mentioned, Giroudpuri is the birthplace of Baba Ghasidas and Jait Khamb was erected two years back on December 15, 2015. Earlier, Jagatguru Gaddinsin Shri Vijay Kumar Guru welcomed all the guests. The President was presented with a replica of Jait Khamb.
