Staff Reporter,

In a height of negligence, the body of a lady remained kept in the mortuary of District Victoria Hospital since last twenty days and neither the hospital administration nor Police Department tended to take account of it.

The patient was registered and was carried through 108 Ambulance to get admitted in the hospital on September 24.
As per sources, the 45 year old Guddi Bai, a resident of Kanchanpur got admitted in Victoria Hospital during to prolonged illness, where she passed away on October 18.

The staff of the wards where Guddi was admitted sent her body to mortuary after informing the police and other concerned officers of the hospital. Since then, no one enquired about the body. Neither her family members were informed about her whereabouts nor police felt it necessary to perform her last rites.

The entire issue was highlighted when the Director, Gareeb Nawaz Committee, Saiyad Inayat Ali, enquired with the hospital employees for the whereabouts of a body kept in the mortuary.

The employee informed Ali that since last 20 days, the body was kept in the mortuary. The hospital had already informed Adhartal Police. On the basis of details mentioned on the mortuary’s register, when Ali contacted Adhartal police, they denied receiving any information from the hospital regarding the body.

And if the police didn’t reach the same day, the hospital staff had to contact them again. As soon as the news regarding the body kept in mortuary since last twenty day spread, panic reigned in the hospital premises.
Meanwhile, despite several attempts to contact, Adhartal TI Vipin Tamrakar did not respond.
