THE parents of young children from HUDCO, Bhilai are at present a perturbed lot owing to the frequent nocturnal appearance of hyenas in the colony while overgrown bushes in many parts of the colony adding to plight of residents. The authorities asserted that the department concerned would initiate immediate measures in case of any such menace in the colony.


The parents of the young children from Ward No-70 of HUDCO, Bhilai are nowadays a perturbed lot with frequent appearance of hyenas near overgrown bushes around Dushara Maidan behind a private school in the Ward. While apprehending that young children could be the easy prey of such animals, and also the apathy on the part of the authorities from the department concerned is giving sleepless nights to the residents from the colony.
They also alleged the authorities of apathetic attitude regarding the poor illumination and delay in cutting of overgrown bushed around the playground for children and bushy areas by various roads in the colony.


Somesh Trivedi, president, ‘Jai Mata Di Durgotsav Samiti’ informed that the regular nocturnal appearance of hyenas around Dushara Maidan and by the bushy area behind a private school was a matter of serious concerns. “The young children could be the easy prey of such animals and the authorities concerned ought to initiate necessary measures immediately”, insisted Trivedi. He also alleged the authorities from the local corporation for overgrown bushes, adding to owes of residents. In addition to this, the residents sometime also spotted python and snakes and
immediate measures for cutting the overgrown bushes and ensuring proper illumination of in the colony for safety of residents is being demanded by them.


While expressing ignorance about any such menace in HUDCO colony, Subhash Thakur, Public Relation Officer, Bhilai Municipal Corporation, informed that in any such complaint, the department concerned would initiate immediate action.


He assured that he would personally inspect the area in the colony, and in case of any such issue, he would direct the department concerned for initiating immediate measures.
