Absconding notorious goon nabbed

Hanumanganj police, on Tuesday, claimed to have arrested a notorious goon involved in two murder cases, attempt to murder and extortion cases in past and was absconding for last eight years; a cash reward of Rs 10,000 was also declared on his head and he was living in disguise.
ASP Zone-3 Rajesh Singh Bhadauriya, while addressing mediapersons at police control room, said that the arrested accused has been identified as Mohammad Rashid alias Lakhera (33), a resident of Qazi Camp area.


His arrest was made based on a tip-off that Rashid was moving toward Bhopal Talkies from Qazi Camp on a scooter, after which, he was cordoned off near a dharamshala at Berasia Road. When police personnel frisked him, two loaded pistol and ten live cartridges were recovered from his pockets.


Eight years ago, on May 28, 2009, Rashid had tried to kill Raja alias Sadiq under Bhopal Talkies Bridge in Mangalwara after which the accused was arrested and sent to jail. However, even after being in jail, Raja was later killed in broad daylight by aide of accused on his instructions near Central Library Road Tiraha on June 18, 2009. After getting released from jail, the accused opened fire shot in air near a shop in Idgah Hills area on October 15, 2010. Later, on November 11, 2010, the accused again created sensation when Noor Mohammad (25) was shot dead by the accused along with his brothers.


After this incident, he went absconding and was at large for the past eight years after which a cash reward of Rs 10,000 was declared on his arrest.
