Faction-ridden Congress to hold separate ‘Black Day’ protest rallies

To mark the momentous occasion of demonetisation of high denomination notes, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to observe anti Black-Money day throughout the country and has roped in all big-wigs to lead the party rank and files. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will be leading the event at Nagpur and will interact with mediapersons while Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways, WRD Nitin Gadkari will interact with media and workers at Mumbai. BJP state president Raosaheb Danve will address media at Aurangabad while national vice-president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe will speak at Pune on Wednesday.

Congress has also organised protest rallies on November 8 accusing Narendra Modi Government with derailing the Indian economy due to note ban decision. However, even while opposing the BJP and Central Government, both factions of Congress have organised separate programmes at Samvidhan Square and Telephone Exchange Square respectively.

City Congress President Vikas Thakre and former MP Vilas Muttemwar will lead the protest march at Telephone Exchange Square at 3 pm while former ministers Satish Chaturvedi, Nitin Raut, Anees Ahmed, Gev Awari will lead Black Day protests against demonetisation at Samvidhan Square.

Chaturvedi group was quick to point out that they had originally planned the black day protests while other faction had merely copied their idea.
After two parallel rallies at Chandrapur on Monday and separate functions on death anniversary of late Indira Gandhi, both the factions will stage separate protests, confusing party workers.

In contrast, BJP has organised lot of functions across city on Wednesday evening to celebrate anti Black Money Day. All the elected representatives including MPs, legislators, corporators, office-bearers and workers have been asked to join the celebrations in their respective assembly segments. The BJP has organised function at Bharat Mata Square (Central Nagpur), Kamal Square (North), Hiwri Nagar (East), Pratap Nagar (South West), Sakkardara Square (South) and Ram Nagar square (West). This will be preceded by media briefing by Chief Minister himself on this important issue.
