Woman with bullets in luggage detained at Raja Bhoj airport

A 30-year-old woman was detained by security staff at Raja Bhoj International Airport on Tuesday. The woman was about to board a Mumbai-bound Air-India flight when bullets were found in her luggage by the security scanner after she checked in at the airport.

Upon being detained by the CISF jawans, she was then handed over to Gandhi Nagar police and the cops are now questioning her in connection with the case. According to ASP Zone-4 Sameer Yadav, the woman has been identified as Shweta Mane, who works with LIC in Mumbai and had come to Bhopal for shopping and a tour of the city. On November 4, she had come to Bairagarh with her brother and mother by train with the bag. They came here to attend a marriage ceremony.

During their return, they decided to reach Mumbai by train again. However, the railway ticket of her brother got confirmed, while the ticket of the woman and her mother could not be confirmed after which they booked seats in the flight.

She told police that she had mistakenly picked a wrong purse, which happened to be of her maternal grandfather. Her maternal grandfather was a police personnel and retired after his last posting in Goa and died last year. The bag, in which four live cartridges were found, belonged to him were given by the Government to him after his retirement.

On Tuesday, when the incident occurred, she asked her mother to fly back to Mumbai as they were running out of money. She thought that she would get away with a simple explanation to police, but the matter reached court.
Now the girl was booked under relevant sections of Arms Act and was produced in the court and from there, was not granted bail and later, sent to jail.
