Accountant of BEO in Lokayukta net for taking Rs 28,000 bribe

A TEAM of Lokayukta police special establishment, Jabalpur, caught an Accountant of Block Education Office (BEO), Bijadandi, while taking bribe of Rs 28,000 for withdrawing money from GPF account of an employee on Wednesday. The accused has been identified as Ramlal Raidas posted as Accountant of Block Education Office, Bijadandi. Lokayukta sleuths nabbed the accused Ramlal Raidas, when he was taking bribe of Rs 28,000 from complainant named Radheshyam Yadav.

According to Superintendent of Police, Lokayukta, Anil Vishwakarma informed that he received a complaint from a resident of Mandla named Radheshyam Yadav that he had submitted an application in accounts department for withdrawing money from his GPF account for some urgent work. His application was pending for approval when the Accountant, Ramlal Raidas demanded bribe of Rs 28,000 to clear his payment.

Acting on the complaint, a team of Lokayukta police fielded appellant to collect evidences. Once the information was confirmed, Lokayukta police team reached the spot and caught the officer of Government department red-handed when he was accepting Rs 28,000 from the appellant. Lokayukta police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, while further investigations are underway. During the trap, Lokayukta police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, H P Choudhary comprised Inspector Swapnil Das, Inspector, Manju Kiran Tirkey, Constables, Atul, Juvaid and Rakesh.
