For Tejasswi Prakash, moving from one character to another isn’t difficult. The actor, who shot to fame with the TV show Swaragini, says that she wants the audience to forget characters she has portrayed before. She wants them to enjoy the new role she is playing in her upcoming show, Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya, as her effort is to give them something different every time.

Tell us about your on-screen character of Diya in the show?
In today’s world, where people make hollow promises, Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya is a distinct story about a girl Diya who stands by her promise of safeguarding Ratan and his empire no matter the amount of sacrifices that would be needed on her part. Diya is a very strong and independent woman. She has lived her life with one motive of protecting Ratan and his familial estate and has lost out on a lot of things in life which she could have possibly done. She is not a typical woman and owing to the responsibility that she has taken up, has missed out on multiple things that a normal girl of her age would indulge in. She is a very focused person and not someone who can be taken hold of easily. She is an extremely strong girl with a firm belief system and is always mindful of the task at hand.

How did you prepare for the role?
Honestly, this character of Diya is completely different from the previous portrayal of Diya that I had essayed earlier. I have presently been working out rigorously every day for almost 2 hours which has helped me to lose body fat and gain an impressive muscle tone. I had to work on my energy levels and enhance stamina to look convincing for the role of a woman who is capable of guarding another person from the dangers that lurk around him. It was a challenging task as I had to hone my physique in a perfect manner to fit the on-screen persona of Diya. In regards to acting, our director Maan sir has been a great help in offering tips and the right guidance which has enabled us to offer our best performance.

What made ou you choose the role?
I have always been keen on choosing projects which portray woman in a strong manner. It was very important for me to have a role which gave out an inspiring message for women that they are capable of handling any eventualities that they may come across. A distinct role that speaks about the confidence of women and the way they can overcome all odds. When I heard the script of the show, I was convinced about my character and I really loved it in totality wherein I decided to go ahead with it. The premise of a young woman’s promise to a benevolent man on his deathbed to become a protector really appealed to me.

Which characteristics are common for you and your on-screen persona Diya?
Diya is bold, fearless, confident, disciplinary, committed and unlike typical woman. Similar to Diya, I am also an extremely strong and opinionated
