First ever emergency Angioplasty surgery of patient performed at Advance Cardiac Institute

First ever emergency Angioplasty surgery of a patient took place at Advance Cardiac Institute on Wednesday. Team of doctors under the leadership of Dr Smit Shrivastava, Cardiologist performed the operation during Golden hour of heart attack.

On Wednesday morning Gopal Das Mahant (48), a teacher at Kendriya Vidyalaya, a resident of Kota was preparing for school when he experienced severe chest pain. He was getting breathless, his wife Bharti Mahant informed the matter to other teachers of school over phone and they rushed him to AIIMS hospital. Doctors at AIIMS took ECG and referred him to Advance Cardiac Institute (ACI). Resident Doctor of ACI informed the matter to HOD, ACI and Cardiologist Dr Smit Shrivastava. Doctor Smit completed his OPD at ACI and rushed to Cathlab where his teams of doctors were ready with preparation for Angiography and Angioplasty. On the basis of ECG emergency Angiography and emergency Angioplasty was done and the patient was saved. The cause of attack was found to be due to right artery blockage of the patients.

Dr Smit Shrivastava informed that it was the first emergency angioplasty of the hospital. The hospital was inaugurated on November 1 and within a week the first emergency Angioplasty was successfully performed. He gave credit to the family members and friends of the patient for making quick movement within golden hour he was cured.Bharti Mahant said she was lucky to have the facility available at the hospital due to which life of her husband could be saved on time.
