National Lok Adalat to be held on Dec 9

NATIONAL Lok Adalat will be organised on December 9 across the country under direction of Supreme Court of India Judge and Executive Chairman of National Legal Services Authority (NLSA), New Delhi, Justice Ranjan Gogoi. Accordingly, under guidance of Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court and Chief Patron of Madhya Pradesh State Legal Service Authority and under guidance of Administrative Judge of MPHC and Executive Chairman, MPSLSA, Justice S K Seth, National Lok Adalat will be organised in all District Courts, Tehsil Courts, Labour Courts, Family Courts.


Additional District Judge P C Gupta in a press conference held in District Court premises informed that Lok Adalat will be held in Jabalpur district too. In the Lok Adalat, all the cases can be solved through mediation will be placed including Civil, Criminal, Check Bounce, Electricity Act, Water Tax, Family Dispute, Motor Vehicle Act, Labour Court, Land Acquisition, Bank Recovery, Revenue Cases pending in courts and other cases having possibilities to resolve on mutual agreement would be placed. In National Lok Adalat, Bank Recovery cases, Municipal Corporation water tax cases would be resolved and litigants would be given benefits of rebates declared by the Government.


In this case that National Lok Adalat the Electricity Act Section 135, 138 and 126 will be given benefits. He added that in pre-litigation level cases will be given 100 per cent rebate on 16 per cent rate of interest levied on liability at rate of 40 per cent in civil and 16 per cent on dishonour of cheque. At Litigation level, rebate of 25 per on civil liability and 16 per cent interest annual will be given 100 per cent rebate. This rebate will be applicable only on November 9. ADJ Gupta added that to settle cases related to private and national insurance companies, Additional District Judges have been authorised. Regular pre-sittings are being organised with litigants. For bank related cases, Additional District Judge and Civil Judge Grade One three benches have been constituted. He was accompanied by ADJ S K Choubey, Registrar R K Yadav and District Legal Aid Officer Pradeep Thakur.
