Staff Reporter,

AGGRESSIVE opposition on day two of general house meeting of JMC placed the ruling side on back foot after Opposition turned adamant to fix date on meeting under Section 30 and objected on absence of Municipal Commissioner in the meeting. Issues raised by the Opposition benches were ratified by the chair made the ruling side unobtrusive. Day two of the general house meeting resumed only after the Chairperson made an appeal to corporators to coordinate amongst themselves on the issue of public interest works.

The Opposition members raised strong objection on absence of Municipal Commissioner and demanded that he must ensure his presence while the house is in progress. As per schedule the meeting resumed at 11 am on Wednesday as Congress corporators raised objection on absence of Municipal Commissioner.

Congress corporators Vinay Saxena, Sanjay Rathore, Kewal Krishna Ahuja and others strongly objected on absence of Municipal Commissioner. They asserted that in view of the fact that the Municipal Commissioner is Secretary of the house his presence is obligatory. Mainly, because in case of any decision to be taken on policy matters unfortunately all such decisions will remain pending due to his absence. Intervening in between Mayor Dr Godbole informed the house that Municipal Commissioner is out of station has gone to Bhopal and had informed her about the same.
Members demanded from the chair to ensure that Municipal Commissioner should be present when the house is in progress.

Assurance on the issue of absence of the Municipal Commissioner pacified the members, later topsy-turvy dominated when corporators confronted on the issue of transgression of their respective areas in view of
development works. As Lalita Singh BJP corporator from Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Ward accused Shiv Sena Corporator Thadeshwar Mahawar of Shankarshah Nagar of interfering in development works being carried out in her ward. She demanded that undue interference from corporators on other wards is not a healthy practice and must be stopped. Amidst pandemonium, JMC Chairperson intervened and asked the corporators to refrain from verbal spat on the issue, instead they must work with coordination on the issue pertaining to public interest. In between the Opposition demanded to fix deferred meeting under Section 30. It was decided in the house that in case any development project that is taken up by the municipal administration that however affects any individual.

The JMC administration will have to take into confidence the local corporator, MLA and the MP. While Corporator Tahir Ali strongly objected on proposal made by MiC member Kamlesh Agrawal on the issue of development of left turn at Damohnaka area. And asserted that JMC must develop left turn in the land under its possession instead of giving compensation to people who are being given compensation against acquisition of land. This must be followed strictly because by virtue of giving compensation to affected a large sum of money would be spend on giving compensation. Encroachments still remain on Government land on which the JMC administration seems to remains in slumber. Inadvertently JMC administration is more penchant to give compensation to people instead of making optimal use of its own land.
