Staff Reporter,

On Thursday, Bhopal Gas Peedith Nirashrit Pensionbhogi Sangarsh Morcha staged protest at Neelam Park. During the protest effigy was burnt of Dow Chemical by the protesters. The State Government had promised to continue 1,000 widow pension for women survivors but 17 months down the line, the pension is yet to resume forcing thousands of elderly women to live in abject poverty.

The organisations representing survivors of Bhopal Gas Tragedy also accused the State Government of gross betrayal over promised health and other facilities to them.
The bar-coded smart cards for the gas tragedy victims were about to be implemented so that their centralised data could be accessed either at Bhopal Memorial Hospital or any of the
six gas relief hospitals being run by the State Government and treatment could be streamlines. The protest was held by holding thali and katora basically to show the distress of financial problems in the Bhopal gas effected colonies in the State capital.

Many of the family members are having serious physical problems because of which they are unable to get good employment opportunities and are not able to support the family. The public who are living below poverty line requires the correct amount of pension as its their right and the Madhya Pradesh State is showing discrimination against them
