12th TPM conference organised at NADP

The two-day 12th Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Conference of Ordnance and Ordnance Equipment Factories organised by National Academy of Defence Production (NADP), Ambajhari, concluded on Friday. S K Chourasia, Director General Ordnance Factories and Chairman of Ordnance Factory Board (OFB), Kolkata was the chief guest for the valedictory function. Kailas Chandra, Additional DGOF and Member of OFB was the guest of honour.

Rajnish Lodwal, Senior Principal Director of NADP, welcomed the guests, members of the jury and delegates. In his address, he appreciated the delegates for showcasing efforts towards TPM activities on the theme ‘Enhancing competitiveness by reducing losses and wastages at the shop floor’. He congratulated all the winners. He made a special mention of S K Sahabuddin, of Metal and Steel Factory (Ishapore/West Bengal) who summited Mt Everest in May 2017 and was honoured in the TPM Conference.

Kailas Chandra appealed to all the people present on the occasion to set exemplary standards to be emulated by others. S K Chourasia delivered the valedictory address and emphasised upon the need to translate TPM ideas into visible reduction in costs. The overall best TPM Award was given away to Ordnance Factory Varangaon (Maharashtra). The other winners included Ordnance Factory Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Ordnance Factory Ambajhari (Maharashtra), Ordnance Clothing Factory Shahjahanpur (Uttar Pradesh), and Engine Factory Avadi (Tamil Nadu), informs a press release.

Earlier, on Thursday, D K Shrivastava, Additional Director General Ordnance Factories and Member of OFB inaugurated the conference. Shrivastava emphasised upon the need to spread the concept of TPM beyond the confines of dedicated teams to encompass all employees. The TPM presentations by delegates during the conference were judged by three members of the jury namely S Narashiman from TPM Club of India, Sunil Mahabal from Mahindra & Mahindra, and Saravanan Kanagasabai from M/s Carborundum Universal Ltd, Hosur. The conference was attended by more than 150 delegates from 33 Ordnance Factories across the country.
