Grab opportunities in bee keeping’

Under the Union Government’s ambitious project called ‘Honey Mission’, the Khadi and Village Industry Commission (KVIC) Nagpur recently distributed bee boxes to the participants of a training course held at Paoni oin Bhandara district.
Vinai Kumar Saxena, Chairman of KVIC; MLA Ramchandra Avsare; Hemant Kalmegh, Executive Member - Shivaji Education Society; Yashovardhan Baramatikar - Deputy CEO, KVIC; S N Sonkusare, Deputy Director; and Professor Vijay Lepse were among the prominent perons present on the occasion.

In his address, Saxena said that farmers and should grab opportunities in bee keeping. He said honey enjoys good demand in national and international markets and thus farmers and youths could earn good money through it. Baramatikar also spoke about the opportunities and scope in the profession. He said that the farmers and youth could earn good profit from bee-keeping business.

Khadi & Village Industries Commission took up the task of development of the beekeeping industry with a view to uplift the financial status of people living in rural areas by introducing and popularizing modern beekeeping.

KVIC has established a separate department namely Directorate of Beekeeping in Mumbai and Central Bee Researchand training Institute at Pune and started beekeeping in modern and scientific way throughout the country by establishing Filed Observation stations / zonal beekeeping extension centers and now with State Beekeeping Extension Centersin potential beekeeping states in the country.
