‘Small, big ponds of Sagar divi to be made encroachment-free after demarcation’

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that all the small and big ponds of Sagar Division will be made encroachment free after the demarcation. Land will be identified for constructing new ponds in all the villages. He further stated that new ponds, check dams, stop dams and runnels will be constructed in maximum numbers and Boribandhan works will be carried out for water conservation. Chouhan said that water is soul of our life. Therefore, public awareness campaign will be conducted. CM Chouhan was addressing the Rashtriya Sookha Mukt Jal Sammelan, in special reference to Bundelkhand at Khajuraho on Saturday. He said that the government, society and organisations working in the field of water conservation will work together in order to change the picture and fate of Bundelkhand region.

Moreover, Chouhan said that keeping in view the rain status in Bundelkhand region, every necessary effort will be made to revive the drying up rivers. He mentioned that, water conservation works during the ensuing summer season and plantation at wide scale will be carried out during the rainy season in the entire Bundelkhand region. This will stop rain water to quench the thirst of the land. This will also facilitate moisture in the land and will help in harvesting good yield. Farmers of this area will become prosperous. He administered pledge to the people present in the programme to save water with commitment and dedication.

Waterman of India Rajendra Singh said that complete respect is given to Neer, Nari and Nadi in Madhya Pradesh. The state government has linked society with nature and with connected issues. We have to revive the dying rivers and ponds for ground water storage. We have to save our rivers and ponds from encroachment, pollution and indiscriminate exploitation to protect our future generation.

Minister of State for Backward Class and Minority Welfare (Independent Charge) Lalita Yadav, Chairman Bundelkhand Development Authority Ramkrishna Kusmariya, Water Expert Guru Swami of Chennai, Dr Rajendra Patidar, Advisor Krishi Niti Ayog J P Mishra and Water Conservation Activists were present on the occasion.
