Business Bureau,

WOMEN are known for multi-tasking where they fulfill their responsibilities at home and also do justice with their jobs. There are many female Chartered Accountants (CAs) who are contributing in various manners in development of the nation. Earlier people used to feel that some particular jobs cannot be performed by females. Over a period of time, women have proved their capabilities in multiple fields and were doing exceptionally good in their fields.

“Gender bias is something which is only in the minds of people and is important that we should remove it from our mind and be confident about doing things,” said Nanda Jichkar, Mayor of Nagpur.

She was recently talking as chief guest at the seminar on ‘Women Enrichment’ organised by Nagpur Branch of ICAI for female CAs.
She added that women should work freely with open mind and compete with the fast moving world. In almost every sector women are working shoulder to shoulder with men and are in no way behind in any manner.

“Women empowerment is very important for the development of nation and its progress,” Jichkar said. She mentioned that post implementation of GST, various practical difficulties were being faced at the ground level. CAs have played an exceptional role in creating necessary awareness and help the trade community to resolve the issues. By contributing various suggestions to the GST Council, again CAs have worked with the Government in implementing the law in the country.

The problems being faced are temporary issues and with time to come all such issues will be resolved. CAs are respected in the society because they are providing all possible help in revenue generation and ultimately in the national development. She expressed her happiness on organising an exclusive programme for the ladies wherein all speakers and delegates will be women.

CA Bhawna Doshi, Past Central Council Member mentioned that the number of female CAs and their contribution in society and in profession are increasing day by day. She added that more and more female CAs should come forward and be a part of the seminars as a speaker which will be helpful to them to groom their personality. It’s time that we should focus on knowledge enrichment as well.

She requested the Mayor to look into formation of a technical committee of female CAs who can work with the NMC in their various tax collections initiatives, planning and record keeping.

CA Julfesh M Shah, Member of PR and CSR Committee of ICAI, New Delhi in his address mentioned that ‘All Women Conference’ is a regular feature at Nagpur branch which was started to motivate lady CAs. It is a platform for female CAs to update their knowledge and also to showcase their talent which will ultimately help in updating of their knowledge and skills.
