Former corporator Baba Maind no more

Vikas alias Baba Maind, former corporator and architect of Children’s Traffic Park at Dharampeth, passed away on Friday night at a private hospital following prolonged illness. He was hospitalised two weeks ago and never recovered. After his condition deteriorated on Friday, Maind was put on ventilator. He breathed his last at around 11.20 pm. He was 58. He is survived by young son Sharvil. 

BJP corporator Sanjay Bangale and many party workers were besides him at the hospital.
Maind lovingly known as Baba was one of the most popular and powerful corporators of Nagpur Municipal Corporation and represented Dharampeth Ward from 1992-1997 as Congress party nominee and thereafter as BJP candidate from 2007-2012. After the seat was reserved for woman candidate, his wife Vishakha was elected as BJP candidate from 2012-2017.

Maind used to celebrate his birthday on December 31 with a grand musical inviting all his well-wishers cutting across party lines. After sad demise of his wife Vishakha in a road accident few months ago, he was not keeping well and had reduced his public appearance considerably. His death has saddened countless many across city and particularly in Dharampeth area.

The funeral procession will start from his residence near Zenda Square, Dharampeth on Saturday afternoon and last rites will be performed at 4 pm at Ambazari ghat.
